Guyana November-December 2015

 

Brian and Pat Wetton joined the Zoothera trip in 2015 to Guyana. It was lead by Ron Allicock with the assistance of his wife Marissa and was a great trip. Fellow birders were Olga Aardoom, Rob Carr and Andy Sims. Brian and Pat personally saw 361 species of which 84 were lifers; not bad for our twelfth Latin American trip!

Rice farms, creek, grassland and scrub.

Abary Trail (AT):

Mangrove edge.

 

Hope Bay (HB):

Coastal mudflats & mangrove near Belfield.

 

Belfield Marsh (BM):

Coastal marsh and wet grassland with pools.

 

Kaiteur (KT):

Waterfalls on Potaro River, dry scrub and forest.

 

Iwokrama (IW):

Rainforest with Capuchin lek, River Essequibo & lodge grounds.

 

Kurupukari Highway (KH):

Dirt road through Iwokrama rainforest & whitesand forest with roadside pools and streams.

 

Atta Forest (AF):

Rainforest with canopy tower & lodge.

 

Surama (SU):

Eco-lodge with savannah, rainforest trails, lake & Burro-Burro River.

 

Mora Bridge (MB):

Savannah with dry forest and marshes en route to Yupukari.

 

Yupukari (YK):

Savannah with marshes and thickets and Rupununi River (RP)with sandbanks, gallery forest and oxbow lakes.

 

Karassabai (KR):

Savannah with irrigated rice farm, scrub, hills with dry forested valleys and Ireng River (IR) gallery forest.

 

Manari (MN):

Savannah ranch with Mauritia Palms, scrub woodland, grassland and marshes. Near to Rio Branco (RB) gallery woodland, River Takatu (RT) and artificial Moko Lake (ML).

 

 

Dadanawa (DD):

Savannah ranch with grassland, small woods and rocky hills. Wooded valleys and springs in the Wiwitawa (WW) area.
